Dentists for
Anxious Patients
If you feel worried or scared about going to the dentist, you are not alone. Roughly 34% of people in the UK feel anxious before a dental appointment. At SDA Dental Studio, making you feel safe and comfortable is one of our primary aims — from the moment you contact us to the moment you leave.
Dental Phobia — We Understand
Dental anxiety and dental phobia are far more common than most people realise. Whether your anxiety stems from a past difficult experience, fear of pain, loss of control, or simply the sounds and smells of the dentist — your feelings are completely valid, and we take them seriously.
At SDA Dental Studio, one of our primary aims is to ensure that your experience with us is positive, from beginning to end. We work hard to create an environment where anxious patients feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for.
"We will never rush you, never minimise how you feel, and never proceed with any treatment until you feel ready and comfortable."
How We Help Anxious Patients
We adapt every aspect of your visit to put you at ease. There's no one-size-fits-all approach — we take the time to understand what specifically makes you anxious and work around it.

Questions From Anxious Patients
Your questions and concerns are completely normal. Here are the ones we hear most often.
Absolutely not. You would not believe how common this situation is — and the reason people avoid the dentist is almost always anxiety, not laziness or not caring. Our team understands this completely. We will never make you feel embarrassed or judged about the state of your teeth or how long it has been. Our only goal is to help you feel comfortable and to move forward together, at your pace.
Yes — absolutely. In fact, for very anxious patients we actively encourage this. Your first visit can simply be a chance to meet the team, see the practice, and have a conversation. No examination, no treatment, no pressure of any kind. Building familiarity and trust is part of the process, and we're happy to start there.
Modern dentistry, done well, should not cause pain. We use the most advanced local anaesthetics available and always take time to ensure the area is fully numb before proceeding. If you ever feel discomfort during treatment, simply raise your hand and we'll stop immediately. We will never pressure you to continue through pain. For patients who need extra reassurance, sedation is available so you can have treatment in a completely relaxed state.
Conscious sedation involves inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or taking an oral sedative that places you in a deeply relaxed, calm state while remaining awake and able to respond. It is very safe and widely used. You feel little to no anxiety during the procedure and typically have limited memory of the appointment afterwards. You'll need someone to accompany you home, but you'll otherwise feel completely normal by the end of the day. Your dentist will discuss whether sedation is right for you at your consultation.
Smile! You've found the right dentists
